Chiang Mai - Thailand

Chiang Mai has been my favourite weekend getaway so far. So many beautiful temples scattered all over, but the elephant trek with Thai Elephant Home (thaielephanthome.com), the natural mud spa on ourselves and the elephants, then washing off the mud and bathing with the elephants in the river was incredible and an experience I will never forget! We also loved playing with tiger cubs at Tiger Kingdom, although a part of us questioned the welfare of the fully grown tigers. Despite that I loved every minute of our weekend in Chiang Mai, and we hope to go back again in February for the lantern festival!

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Being half Vietnamese, I was very excited and keen to visit anywhere in Vietnam for the weekend. When we finally decided and booked to go to Ho Chi Minh city, I tried to recall my memories of when I first visited at just 9 years old. I haven't been back since that time, but I still have a few memories such as seeing thousands of people riding rusty bicycles from our hotel balcony, and markets where pigs snouts and trotters were for sale, buddist monks dodging the bicycle traffic. Now, 19 years later times have indeed changed and there are now thousands and thousands of motorcycles and scooters - evading the roads creating chaotic traffic and polluting the humid air. Where mere pedestrians would have to take an almighty breath to cross the road by.....just walking into the traffic and crossing. I loved our weekend away to Ho Chi Minh, such a vibrant city filled with charming locals. I just wish I could speak the language.

Our W T tips:
  • XO Tours - whisked away on the back of scooters with very sweet team of female drivers. The tour guides took us to some truly local districts where tourists never venture (apart from ourselves). Great food and great tour!

Metallics & Pastels

Uniqlo apparel in stores always catches my eye..I love the no frills layout, the simplicity, the classic cuts that suits all, and the vast range of colours available per item. The macaroon pink colour of these cropped skinny trousers was so vibrant and fresh I had pick up a pair. I can always rely on Uniqlo quality and at such affordable prices, so felt that I didn't need to try them on...OK I was also in a bit of a rush and the queue was long...so I just paid quickly and left. I tried them on the next day and was so pleased. Paired them with a simple dark Aubin & Wills vest, and then polished off the look with a H&M rose gold chunky necklace and my Bershka mirror silver courts.
